Training during Corona Virus

It’s been a long 3 months, but finally due to the change in the corona virus situation and government guidelines, we’ve been able to make some plans for returning to training.

We look forward to welcoming you back on 5th July, however, obviously, we will have to operate in a different way to usual for the time being. Although we have taken into account the guidelines, for legal reasons, we have to point out that attendance is at the owners risk.

We have decided to increase the weekly training fee to £5 per session. This will reduce the need to give change and therefore there will be less handling of money required. The weekly fee has not been increased for many years. Going forward, when circumstances allow, refreshments after class will be free.

In order to keep everyone safe and adhere to the guidelines, we will be implementing the following procedures.

1. The times of classes will be staggered to ensure we can adhere to social distancing rules.

Puppy class will start at 9am

All other classes at 10am

Please only turn up 5 minutes before your lesson time, and only come on your own with your dog. Anyone else with you will need to remain in the car. Puppy class will last approximately 45 minutes, to allow time to leave the car park to make way for the next class.

2. Training fee will be payable on arrival at the car park.

Before leaving home, place your £5 fee into a sealed envelope and write your full name and your dogs name on the front. Stop at the entry to the car park and hand your envelope to a committee member, who will then give you further instructions to park and wait by your car.

3. Please bring with you everything you or dog will need:-

Such as, water and a bowl for your dog, refreshments for yourself, toys, treats, a blanket or mat and a long line, if you have one, as the club will not be able to provide these in the circumstances.

4. To keep in line with the guidelines, classes will be maximum 5 handlers and 1 instructor.

Smaller classes will ensure everyone receives attention and dogs remain happy and stress-free.

5. Please make sure your dog has a flat collar and lead.

The club will not be able to provide any alternative leads/collars at this time.

6. Dogs must be kept on lead at all times.

If you have a long line, you will be able to complete some of the exercises using this, such as recall and stays, otherwise, unfortunately you will only be able to complete these, using the length of your normal lead. No off lead recalls / stays will be allowed. (long lines can be purchased on Amazon for approximately £6 -£8)

7. Dogs will not be able to run off lead before or after class.

If you wish to run your dog before class, then please take them elsewhere to do this.

8. Please leave immediately after class has finished.

Due to the staggered start times and for everyone’s safety, unfortunately we can not allow socialising or congregating after class.

9. All paperwork will need to be downloaded/completed on the website.

Kennel Club Good Citizens Award exercise descriptions are available to download from our website, as are puppy starter packs. Membership forms will need to be completed on line.

10. Membership

If you wish to join the Club, please  click here and follow the instructions.

11. There will be no physical contact between the trainer and client or dog.

Owners should touch only their own dogs. Social distancing should be observed at all times.

Finally, If you are feeling unwell, have a cough, sore throat, or shortness of breath or have been in contact with a confirmed case of corona virus, please do not attend classes.

As a thank you for your patience at this difficult time, all lessons on 5th July will be  free.

We look forward to seeing you then, in the meantime, if you have any queries or concerns, please  contact us
